| A.J. |
A.J. , a college kid who
bites off more than he can chew, becomes a vampyre in the film VAMP (1986).
A.J. is
a traditional vampyre; he gives off no reflection in mirrors, is vulnerable to sunlight
and fire; grows fangs when getting ready to feed, and assumes a bestial appearance when
the blood lust begins.

| ADA, Princess |
Princess
Ada, played by
Barbara Steele in Mario Bavas 1960 film, Black Sunday, is a Moldavian
witch/vampyre. A princess of the House of Vida, she is condemned as a servant of Satan by
her own brother, the local Grand Inquisitor. However, before she dies, Ada curses her
brother and his descendants and vows she will return. Ignoring her words, her brother
orders that she be branded and a spiked mask be placed on her face, followed by the
cremation of the princess and her servant. However, a hard rain begins just as the bonfire
is started and she is buried in a crypt in the family castle, while her servant is buried
in unconsecrated ground near the local village. One hundred years to the day later, an
earthquake shakes the area and Ada is able to return for one day in spirit form. She kills
the 20-year old Princess Marsha (who looks a great deal like Ada), then returns to her
crypt.
The film then jumps ahead 200 years, Ada is awakened once again seeking revenge. The
film, Black Sunday, originally released in Italy as La Maschera del Demonio,
portrays an Eastern European Vampyre, but represents a distinct break with the Count
Dracula legend while still retaining all the supernatural context of the traditional
vampyre story.
