The vampyre Lestat de Lioncourt has emerged second only to Count Dracula as the most influential character in vampyre literature. Introduced in Anne Rice's novel Interview with the Vampire (1976), his full life story is told in the subsequent novel The Vampire Lestat (1985). He then appears as the feature character and narrator of the subsequent volumes in the series known as The Vampire Chronicles : The Queen of the Damned (1988), The Tale of the Body Thief (1992) and Memnoch the Devil (1994)
de Morrissey, David This 400-year old vampyre was introduced in Lori Herter's 1991 romance novel Obsession. Born in France in 1582, as a young man he ventures to England where he studies with William Shakespeare. In 1616 he travels to Transylvania and meets with an unfortunate fate that turns him into a vampyre. In the 1930's he moves to America where he realizes his life-long dream of becoming a famous playwright. His fame brings Veronica Ames into his life. Their lover's tale continues through three more books: Possession, Confession, and Eternity.
de Pointe du Lac, Louis The lead character in Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire, grows up on a plantation outside of New Orleans in the years immediately preceding the American Revolution. After the accidental death of his brother, Louis is so guilt stricken that his desire to die attracts the attention of the vampire Lestat de Lioncourt.   In 1791 at the age of 25, he is visited by Lestat who drains Louis almost to the point of death and then allows him to drink from his arm.  This allows Louis to pass through death and into a vampyre state.

Desire This beautiful and seductive dark-haired vampyress makes her single appearance in the 1982 movie I, Desire (also released as Desire the Vampire). 
Desnoirs In an Adventure Comic Series, From the Darkness (1990-98), it is told that around 1950 a powerful Canadian Chippewa medicine man opposes the movement of the lumber industry onto his people's traditional land.  He performs a secret ritual process that transforms his daughter into a vampyre. He releases her in a sexy costume upon the lumberjacks who call her Desnoirs (French for "from the dark"). Eventually, however, they corner and stake her and place her body in an out building where they can keep watch over her body. Eventually she is revived by Brandon Thorn and together they begin to terrorize the lumberjacks again.

Donna Mia A succubus demon who makes her first appearance in the horror anthology comic book Dark Fantasies. While appearing to be a vampyre, she is really a succubus demon who has possessed the body of a young girl.  As a woman she was born in the winter of 1418 in Arba Fruili, an impoverished area of Italy.  As a demon she was with the spirits cast out of heaven with Lucifer. According to this story, those cast out formed two groups... those who served Lucifer are called devils and those who rejected Lucifer and wanted to repent are called demons. The demon who becomes Donna Mia has found her way out of hell, but cannot find her way back to heaven.
Doran A fifteenth century vampyre featured in the role playing game Vampire: The Masquerade. He is the vampyre that established the Camarilla, the worldwide body that governs vampyres. He is a member of the Ventrue Clan from which most of the leaders of the Camarilla were drawn. The Ventrue are the most learned and sophisticated of the vampyres and they blend in easily in human society.
