The Dragon within cried; cries
A beast born of tales and odes. Wise. Proud.
A sight of Magic's inner might,
yet of pure love as well
Those weak of spirit fearing his size,
have lied about the Magic's designs; truths flight.
So, the Dragon within dies,
as mankind sinks into Hell
Stories of old, elves, gnomes and,
warriors bold, fill my nightly wishes.
Fairies watch from the darkness,
within and without
Dreams, the cure for faiths lack,
Brutus, being immature, took instead of earned.
Pockets filled with gold,
yet the soul poor, and insecure
Surrounded, circled by the darkness of my own fears,
trapped by doubts, and beset by Xian fables,
I sit; sat encompassed by the obscure,
my face flushed by tears. Hot, and running
For ya see, I too have lied.
Telling myself lies regarding my own guise, my true nature.
Under skies of Texas blue, I portray myself as a
White Knight of the light,
delighting maidens with proses of trite,
exciting words of love, lust and truth.
I must say here and now this is not quite
true, tonight under gray skies I confess
Speaking without profanity,
and I hope without much vanity,
I am Midas's prey
As my ulcers bleed, and time runs out,
I must face the truth, and my sins.
A fool alone, I profess
Depressed, the end comes
Lotus attained,
an unfulfilling position to say the least during this rite,
this life. Facing east, full of strife,
abandoned by my dreams.
Goals escaping through cracks in my sanity, I breathed;
the Ones air in nasally, expelled orally from the diaphragm,
the right way. Powerless without faith in me, and in the One.
Hollow, yet animated in a defunct, dispirited sort of way.
I fantasize of a romantic quest of duty and purpose, alone.
Honorless and afraid, I write naught but,
whiney little words of helplessness
And, the Dragon within cries
Magic waning in a songless world of science,
and uncertain beliefs. A lone candle burns bright,
as shadows sway and dance on picture less walls,
here by old Galveston Bay.
I alone, face the dark,
The evil within, I wish for Trish
My Sins, Karma weighs,
and, the Dragon within dies
