Four A.M. 

Another night unfolds
and it is four a.m.
Another night 
that I am unable to sleep
The wind howls
outside my window
Forlorn and moaning
into the cold night.

Discomfort awakening me
from restless sleep
to find what was unfelt last night
confirmed broken this night.

An uncooperative left side
One moment numb
the next restless.
Another broken glass
stares at me from the floor
mocking this left hand
that allowed it to slip from my grasp.

Deserted by the Goddess
Abandoned to loneliness
Feline familiars pace the room
unable to settle
for I am unable to settle
Blue eyes eight
Crying out to me
for reassurance
that all is well

Fatigue envelopes
Sleep evades
Demons swirl about
filling this mind with
'what ifs' and "why me"

Forever seeking
that non-existent cure
Fighting the resignation
of these things called FMS and MS

Screams reverberate
within the walls of this headache
spawned from within the depths of hell
chanting this cannot be so
But demanding acceptance
of that which is
and cannot be changed

Then heading off to bed
where caressing the felines four
and talking with them softly,
they and I begin to settle
as they purr to me in comfort
Knowing that tomorrow
will be another day
another challenge
Knowing that the Goddess will return
to soothe and calm me
to travel with me on this journey
to an unknown destination.
