The Vampyre
by Phillip Burne-Jones

vampyra poem

Naked he lay on the bed in waiting
Awake and the evening anticipating
Hungry for the feasting he knew was near
Aware that at last she is finally here.

First the feeling of  that now familiar tingle
Wondering if she is accompanied or single
Then smelling her breath as it slides over him
Feeling each touch of her tongue as reality begins to dim.

At last that which he seeks and craves
Is here as he feels her fresh from her grave
Long white teeth set in blood red lips
Shuddering, he feels her mouth as it dips.

As biting into his hot flesh he begins to feel
Her hunger fade as reality begins to reel
Soon he feels lighter than air, soaring into the night
As Vampyra claims him, carrying him away in orgasmic flight.

His heart sings to Vampyra in unearthly delight
As he gladly gives to her his soul this unholy night
His body craving her touch in deepest erotic desire
Vampyra has touched his heart and soul and set them on fire.
